For the future we want.
If we want a government that truly works for the people, we need to put people at the centre of how it works.
That means higher standards and better processes—better ways to listen, communicate, learn and make decisions, and higher expectations for how we serve our community.
Our current council is under an extraordinary amount of oversight precisely because they're struggling to put the people first. There are 4 substantiated integrity commissioner complaints, including two conflict of interests where councillors tried to advance their own personal interests above the public interest, and two retaliation/threats to a member of the public. Staff have issued multiple cease and desist letters and at least one no trespass notice to private citizens. Council/Staff are currently subject to at least three formal Ombudsman investigations for allegedly improperly following procedures. There's no sign that it's going to stop.
It needs to stop. This isn't good for anyone.
Elections are the time to decide whether to look away or clean up. We need to see a change at the table. If you elect me, I will negotiate with council to deliver these improvements not just to Sabine, but to every constituent in South Algonquin.
We may live in different wards but our need for good governance is the same across the board.
Council decisions are only as good as the information they receive. Let's make decisions based on high quality information and data.

South Algonquin's population is aging. Accessibility isn't a special interest here. Let's make sure people of all ages and abilities can use our buildings, information, meetings and municipal processes. All the time.

Good leadership includes preparing the people who come next. We need to create a pipeline for residents to participate, learn how municipal government works and develop the skills and confidence to lead.

Councils make better decisions when they listen. Let's listen to the people who live, work and invest here so we can learn from local knowledge, experience and different perspectives .

Good leaders keep learning. Council members need ongoing training in governance, finance, planning and municipal law so they have the knowledge they need to make good decisions.
